about

Recorded mostly at Smoking Moon Studios in Burlington, WI. The greed of the powerful few that own most of the city, forced the owners out through eminent domain and demolished the historic building for development.

Track Name: In Slivers
A faded picture
too hard to tell
rusted scissors
still cut so well
a livening
which has barely shone
only remnants to follow

I wanna go
where the trees
grow much bigger
and the leaves
they all fall a little thicker
where the moon
it shines through in slivers

Please be patient
my restless soul
to many things out there
that want control
a livening
that I needn't know
why the pieces
fall this way

As life will linger
with the illusions of time
only seconds
have I dared to try
a livening
which I need to know
walk the paths
that are unhollow
Track Name: Checkers
My how the days scheme
wrapped in their twist
Monday was superior
Tuesday I'd rather missed

When it doesn't add up
and it doesn't make sense
I'll give it one more day
before I try again

Again I'm tryin' somethin' else
I'll try a again it's always somethin' else
I'll try again I'm tryin' somethin' new
I'll try again

I've been walking
circles in my house
been rearranging
moving things about
and all that I had there
with hidden memories
played a soft reminder
of life surrounding me

Every time I see you
it's checkers in my brain
will I make the right move?
and be your king again

I've been talking
in circles to myself
almost convinced now
kicking myself out
and where will I wonder?
as I wander now
Head on collision
with what it's all about
Track Name: A River's Course
There are many ways to shave your mind
fear and hatred, chemically de-spined
Heaven help the man that wanders blind

Doors jam, windows get busted
A house will shift its lines
A moving heart never subjected
to a river's course in time

A season's rest may be just what you need
but as stagnant water soon diseased
Heaven lift the man up off his knees

Restless is the thought that goes untied
shoved and bagged and labeled most denied
Heaven answer man's established cry
Track Name: Sugar Bowl
Some will count their sheep at night
others will sleep all day
the other side of the white washed fence
is where we dream to play
where the grass grows green
and the grass grows high
and many deft places to hide,
but low and behold
the weeds can come
in the early spring of the mind

Jack and Jill tripped up the hill
each with a fire hose
but by the time they'd reached the top
the fire had gone out
so they sharpened their fingers
and dulled their toes
on hopes in steep decline
lo and behold them weeds did come
in the early spring of the mind

Spring of the mind

Then some things went bitter
when you dropped the sugar bowl
climbing up that ladder
when did you start looking down?

Faeries spread dust that'll make you sneeze
and nymphs will continually tease
no more rabbits from the magic hat
as life rolls up its sleeves
into bed, up off your knees
time for a restful sleep
you'll need your strength to pull them weeds
in the early spring of the mind

Spring of the mind

Then some things went bitter
when you dropped the sugar bowl
climbing up that ladder
when did you stop?
when did you stop?

Then some things went bitter
when you dropped the sugar bowl
climbing up that ladder
when did you start looking down?

Some mistake, the same mistake
don't give in to what they couldn't take
Some mistake, the same mistake
don't give up what they want to take
Track Name: Surreal
Hey how do you feel?
Sorry that I have to be so real
sometimes
You know it's not your fault
silly reasons come about
and halt a smile
from gettin' through
oh well

I'd like to write a book then
have you take a look at
skip a page or two
if the suspense is killing you
I wanna get it out and
have you figure out just
how to put it in words
what is making it surreal

So is that the way it goes?
Things I mean to say but don't
don't get me wrong
for absence of words
I'd rather not than try
a hastened compromise
for what I must
deliver true
yeah

Hey how do you feel?
Sorry that I have to be so real
You know it's not my fault
Silly reasons come about
and halt a smile
from gettin' through
oh well
Track Name: A Forgotten Dream
You will just have to hum this one.
Track Name: Common
Lonely and faraway.
Two common words
that I can say,
But how would you
describe a simple man,
you've never met and possibly
might not understand?
Many won't listen
cause of the time of day,
or just a fear flowing through
them primal veins.
Lonely yes and
very faraway.
The true is simple
and hard to parade.

Celebrate the realized
when there's nothing on your mind
Celebrate the realized
for the love that holds your life
Celebrate the realized
when there's nothing on your mind
Celebrate the realized
in your peace at night.

Lonely and faraway.
Two worlds of a man
I could portray.
Would you have him lay
down where there is no shade?
And remain ambiguous
given only to charades.
If you could see the frustration
that lay in his eyes.
Back broken dreams
and ridden without prize.
And you could taste the
scars from the well inside
It'd be a wonder about you
if you could not cry.
Track Name: Woodwork
Whoa is me,
I find these terrible things
But how did I discover?
Did I search unabashedly?

The mind is a dangerous thing to express
Seasoned riders stifle at hallows behest
The saints will come marching out of the woodwork
Their artificial light beyond magnificent

Whoa is me,
I hear these terrible things
But why should I shudder?
If done unobtrusively

Whoa is me,
I say these terrible things
But why do I bother?
If done so precariously
